Cycle 1 for “FOUR GRANTS, FO(U)R CREATIVES” has wrapped! We’re excited to announce Jacarrea Garraway and Simone Donado as our first round of grantees. Stay tuned to hear about our following cycles. We got so many good submissions this first time around and can’t wait to help out other creatives. Both individuals will receive an award of $1,000 USD.
Jacarrea Garraway, a name that used to give her anxiety on the first day of school every year, now fills her with pride when she sees it at the end credits in a film, or in the caption of a photo. As an emerging voice within a complex generation, Jacarrea is celebrated for her efforts in keeping the spirit of past art eras via older technologies and techniques while experimenting with storytelling through the perspective of someone living during this digital renaissance. With every production, she skillfully plans and dissects interior life through the exterior means. Between fashion and narrative spaces, she carves out ideas that embrace nostalgia, uncertainty and introspection. Simone Donado is a 16 year old born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. In her free time she likes to write songs on her acoustic guitar, read books (favorites being The Secret History and The Catcher in the Rye), and take photos. She is also obsessed with music, specifically Noah Kahan, ROLE MODEL, and Caamp. It is her lifelong dream to be able to take her creative passions and turn them into something sustainable in the long run.
